The Swift Current Broncos are in Brandon tonight for a key matchup with the Wheat Kings.

This is the second game between the two teams, with Brandon winning 5-2 at the Credit Union iplex on September 27th, and the two teams are currently tied for the early lead in the WHL's East Division standings.

The Broncos are coming into the game with two wins in their last three games, with two shutout victories last season and a shootout loss to the Saskatoon Blades on Wednesday night. Second-year forward Jake DeBrusk has scored in each of those three games with five goals over that span, including two off deflections in Wednesday's game.

"I'm just going into those areas and get some tips there... just trying to get that shot mentality that our team's embracing, and I've got the hot stick right now," DeBrusk said. "Last year as a rookie, I had lots of time on the ice after practices, and even with Jordan Harris, he'd practice his point shots and I practice my tips. It's a really good thing to practice, because when things are going your way, just go to the front of the net. Sometimes they hit you off the shin pads and sometimes you tip them, but I constantly work on those because it's a big part of my game."

DeBrusk is currently fifth in WHL scoring with seven goals and 15 points in 12 games. He finished last season wit 39 points and twice scored the game winning goal for the Broncos in the playoffs.

NHL Central Scouting listed DeBrusk as a 'B' level prospect to watch for the upcoming NHL draft.

You can hear tonight's game on the Eagle 94.1, starting with the pre-game show at 6:00pm and the play-by-play from Shawn Mullin at 6:30pm. The Broncos then host Moose Jaw on Saturday night.

The Broncos also announced today they willl host a special alumni game on Saturday, November 15th at 2:00pm at the Credit Union iplex, where some Broncos from the past will take on Calgary Flames alumni. The roster for the game will be released at a later date.
