One more team clinched a second-round berth in the NHL playoffs last night.

The New Jersey Devils were ousted from the playoffs after a 5-3 loss to the New York Rangers in Game 5.  The Rangers now wait for their second-round opponent.

Out west, the Anaheim Ducks avoided elimination with a 5-3 win over the Dallas Stars on goals by Teemu Selanne and Ryan Getzlaf.  The defending champions from California trail their series, 3-2 heading into Game 6 in Dallas tomorrow.

Johan Franzen scored 1:48 into overtime to give the Detroit Red Wings a 2-1 decision over the Nashville Predators, and a 3-2 lead heading to Game 6 in Music City tomorrow afternoon.

Three games are ahead today in the playoffs, all of which are possible series clinchers.  Montreal takes a 3-2 lead into Boston for Game 6 against the Bruins; Philadelphia hopes to eliminate Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals this afternoon; and Colorado could send the Minnesota Wild golfing with a win tonight in Denver.  You can hear the Avalanche-Wild game on The Eagle 94.1FM.  They'll pick up the NHL Radio coverage starting at 7:45pm.
