Diamond Energy Female Midget AAA Wildcats forward Brooklyn Colborn has committed to pursue her hockey career at the post-secondary level.

The 17-year-old put pen to paper to play for the Edmonton-based Northern Albert Institute of Technology (NAIT) for the 2018-19 season.

"Well I'm just excited to get to pursue my hockey career," Colborn said. "When that opportunity came up, I was really excited - not many people get to further their career."

The program's pursuit and interest in her game, as well as the quality of the program itself, made the choice an easy one.

"Well I went down there when I was 14 as an underage player just to check it out, so I kind of went back there as a refresher - they sent me down there for a weekend, showed me the school, I got to attend a couple of classes and practice with them, so it kind of made the decision a lot easier and I felt like the atmosphere was just where I wanted to be," Colborn said.

The excitement for the 5'9" forward stretches to the experience of living in Edmonton (928,182 people) - a bit of a jump up from her hometown of Delisle (1,038).

"I'm excited to see how Edmonton is - I'm from a small town so it will be kind of different, but I'm definitely excited."

She joins fellow Wildcats Taylor Kirwan and Taylor Lind as three players who have committed to play post-secondary hockey after their Wildcats' careers.

Both Kirwan (2018-19) and Lind (2019-20) have committed to play south of the border for Lindenwood University, located in Saint Charles, Missouri.

Colburn has seven points (3 G, 4 A) in 12 games so far this season, certainly the best offensive season of her Midget AAA career so far.

She looks to keep it rolling as the Wildcats welcome the Battlefords Sharks to Fairview West this Saturday and Sunday.
