Despite a strong start, the Broncos would leave the weekend pointless after dropping both matches against the Edmonton Oil Kings and Calgary Hitmen.

At home on Friday night, the Broncos would open the scoring midway through the first as Josh Davies would get his first of the season off a Sam McGinley set-up from the slot. The Broncos would take the 1-0 lead into the second.

Edmonton would outshoot the Broncos in the second, pouring 17 shots onto Poulter, who held the line until a lucky bounce landed on Jacob Boucher's stick halfway through the second frame.

Early in the third, Edmonton would take their first lead of the game, taking advantage of a five-minute major to the Broncos Chase Lacombe for checking to the head. Simon Kubicek would clap it onto Poulter from the high slot, beating him blocker side to go up 2-1.

Despite pulling Poulter for the extra attacker but was ultimately unable to beat Sebastian Cossa, who would stop 24 shots in the win. Poulter would stop 35 of 37, enough to earn the first star in the loss.

On Sunday, the Broncos would head out on the road to Calgary looking for a better result, but down to just four healthy defensemen.

The Broncos would go down early as Calgary's Grayden Siepmann would get a lucky deflection off a Bronco skate and past Reid Dyck to open the scoring 8 minutes in.

Despite three straight power plays in the second period, the Broncos wouldn't be able to tie it up, and the game would head into the third period with the Hitmen holding their 1-0 lead.

Calgary would strike early in the third, taking advantage of a Broncos turnover to go up 2-0, and then shortly after taking another on a shorthanded turnover.

Swift Current would finally get on the board on the same power play thanks to Mathew Ward taking a cross-crease feed from Owen Pickering for his second goal of the season.

That's where the comeback would end, however, as Calgary would pot an empty netter to hand Swift Current its third straight loss.

Swift Current is next in action in Manitoba as they head for a weekend road trip against the Wheat Kings and the Ice.
