A deep Broncos blue line could add two first round draft picks to the equation this season.

Both Brycen Martin and Zack Gonek were Broncos first round bantam draft picks in 2011 and are taking their first shot at the roster this week.

Gonek knows with six returning veterans on D he has his work cut out for him.

Full Interview with Zack Gonek"I'm gonna have to fight my way onto the team, there's obviously a bunch of D-men that are good enough to play, it's gonna be a battle to get on, I'm gonna have to play my game and possibly fight my way up." Gonek said, adding he's trying not to think too much about who he's competing with and how that may stack the odds. "I just look at my game, I'm not nervous about any of that, I'm not looking at those guys, I'm just gonna play my game and play how I do."

Brycen Martin was the 2nd overall pick in 2011.

Full Interview with Brycen Martin"I just gotta use my speed, use my passing ability, show the guys around me that I'm here to stay." Martin said about what he needs to do to crack the squad. "It's gonna be really hard, even competing against Gonek, they've got a lot of guys coming back, and they're here to stay, they're not gonna give up easily, so it's gonna be tough." He added about the road ahead.

Martin's Team Trottier lost 6-4 to Team Sakic yesterday, while Gonek's Team Tiger fell 7-3 to Team Ruskowski.

Each camp team is 1-1 heading into the final scrimmages at 4:00 and 6:00pm tonight.

The Black and White game is Sunday at 1:00 pm.
