Riders QB Darian Durant

The Saskatchewan Roughriders made changes last week that they're hoping with turn their season around.

After losing to Toronto last Thursday, the team fired Greg Marshall and Doug Berry the next day, and announced that Ken Miller would take over the coaching duties.

Quarterback Darian Durant says Miller and Marshall have different styles.  "What coach Miller brought to the table is what we were used to.  Greg (Marshall) was different, he was a great guy but he was a different in the way he got his message across.  Some guys were receptive and for some guys it wasn't the best way."

Durant says he and former offensive coordinator Doug Berry had an interesting relationship.  "I'm not taking anything away from him (Berry) and what he's done for me, but the times we didn't see eye to eye it was tough.  We just couldn't get on the same page consistently for whatever reason."

The star QB says he's looking forward to working with coach Miller again.  "The system that coach Miller brings in is the system I'm familiar with.  It's what got me started and what I've had my most success in."

Saskatchewan Roughrider receiver Chris Getzlaf has been named the CFL's Canadian Player of the Week.

Getzlaf had four catches for 123 yards and a touchdown in last Thursday's loss in Toronto.

The Riders are off until the Labour Day Classic against Winnipeg.
