Eakin celebrates with Team Canada after their gold medal win

Former Swift Current Broncos captain Cody Eakin scored and had an assist as Canada beat Russia 6-1 in the World Hockey Championship gold medal game.

Canada's coach was former Broncos Coach/GM Todd McLellan. He took them to an undefeated 10-0 record in the tournament.

Eakin put up 4 goals and 2 assists in 9 games. It was his first opportunity to represent Canada at the World Championship after previously playing for his country at the World Junior Hockey Championship.

Eakin opened the scoring in the gold medal game when Tyler Ennis had his shot bank in off the Dallas Stars forward. Eakin then set Ennis up for a goal to make it 2-0 in the second period.

The United-States won bronze with a 3-0 victory over the host Czech Republic.
