A former Swift Current Bronco is now a member of the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights.

Cody Eakin was selected by the Golden Knights in Wednesday's expansion draft.

It was the second time in his career that the Winnipeg native has been selected by George McPhee. The Vegas General Manager was also the GM of the Washington Capitals when they drafted Eakin 85th overall in 2009.

The 6'0", 190lb forward played with the Swift Current Broncos from 2006-2011 registering 195 points in 212 regular season games and 12 points in 23 playoff games.

Swift Current later moved Eakin to the Kooteney Ice at the 2011 trade deadline.

Eakin's posted career highs in the NHL during the 2014-15 season with the Dallas Stars. Playing in 78 games, the now 26-year old scored 19 goals and finished the season with 40 points.

The former Swift Current Broncos captain was also a member of the Canadian national team that was gold at the 2015 World Hockey Championships.

Eakin and the Golden Knights will begin play in the upcoming 2017-18 NHL season.
