Spots at Regionals and Provincials were on the line this weekend for SWAC volleyball teams.

For Senior Boys teams from the 1A to 4A level, it was Conference playoffs with a chance at advancing to Regionals.

In 1A boys, Fox Valley took the West Conference 1 title after going 2-1 in the round robin and defeating Frontier in the final in three sets.

Frontier's second-place finish also secured a spot in Regionals this coming weekend, with the third-place spot at West Conference 1 going to Vanguard.

All three teams will be among the field at the 1A boys West Regional, hosted in Frontier.

Other teams in attendance are Avonlea, Lafleche, and Rouleau.

In 2A boys play, Leader advances to Regionals, though didn't need a Conference playoff to secure a spot.

Leader will be in Gravelbourg for the 2A boys East Regional this weekend.

Along with the host team from Ecole Gravelbourg, Leader joins Regina Laval, Wawota, Payepot, Montmartre, Kakisiwew, and Radville.

Lastly, Shaunavon earned a spot at Regionals in 3A boys play, after finishing second out of three teams as hosts of East Conference 3.

They defeated Moose Jaw Riverview, but fell to Moose Jaw Cornerstone.

Shaunavon will be in Outlook at the LCBI-hosted East Regional this weekend, along with the host Bisons, Eston, Waldheim, Moose Jaw Cornerstone, and Hepburn.

Meanwhile for 5A boys, and 1A to 5A girls teams, it was a Regional battle this past weekend with a trip to SHSAA Provincials on the line.

The best finish in the southwest was at the 1A girls level, as Fox Valley's senior team earned a Regional title.

They started out going 1-1 in the round robin, but topped Borden in three sets in the semis to reach the final.

There, Fox Valley made quick work of Luseland in two-straight sets.

Fox Valley now gets to play host to 1A girls Provincials, using Maple Creek's gym as their secondary location for this coming weekend.

The Legends welcome nine other schools to the southwest:

Borden, Arcola, Engelfeld, Chief Paskwa, Rose Valley, Luseland, Ecole Providence (Vonda), Ecole Mathieu (Gravelbourg), and North Valley (Lemberg).

At the 5A girls level, the Swift Current Comp Senior Ardens finished third at the South Regional playoff in Moose Jaw.

Swift Current went 2-1 in the round robin, defeated Estevan in two sets in the quarter-final, and lost in two sets to Weyburn in the semis.

With the third-and-final spot in Provincials on the line, the Senior Ardens swept Moose Jaw Peacock in two sets to advance to the final stage of the season.

Swift is headed to 5A girls Provincials in the Bridge City, as Sasktoon Holy Cross plays host.

Also in Saskatoon is Weyburn, P.A. St. Mary, Regina Winston Knoll, Saskatoon Bishop Mahoney, North Battleford, Balgonie Greenall, P.A. Carlton, and Regina Campbell.

And a second-place finish at the 5A boys South Region in Weyburn means the Swift Current Comp Senior Colts are back to Provincials once again.

Swift Current cruised by the competition in the round robin, going 3-0.

They then earned a bye past the quarters and into the semi-finals. There, the Senior Colts swept Yorkton in two sets, but were upended by a tough Balgonie Greenall team in a three-set final.

Swift Current, Balgonie, and Yorkton are all off to 5A boys Provincials in Prince Albert.

Joining them are teams from P.A. St. Mary, Saskatoon Holy Cross, Regina Riffel, Meadow Lake, Lloydminster, Saskatoon Centennial, and Regina LeBoldus.
