The tough start to the 2018-19 season continues for the Swift Current Female Midget AA Broncos, as they dropped both games of a weekend set with the Parkland Fire at home.

Saturday at Fairview West, the visiting Fire's three first-period goals were too much to handle as the Female Broncos lost 5-2, on the back of five power-play goals.

Captain Kalea Sauder had a goal and an assist, while Carmen Hildebrand also scored for Swift.

On Sunday at the iPlex, the Fire again jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead, holding on for a 6-2 victory.

In a penalty-filled affair, the two teams combined for 73 penalty minutes.

Autumn Nimegeers scored on the powerplay, and Kayla Keith scored short-handed, while Hildebrand added two assists.

The Female Midget AA Broncos sit at 1-6 on the season, and look to bounce back against the Notre Dame Hounds Friday and Saturday on the road.
