Delta Aggregate and Westland Concrete held their annual Colas Cup in Swift Current last weekend for the first time.

The Colas Cup tournament first began in 2002, where Western Canadian company employees of Colas Canada compete in a hockey tournament for charity.

Tahn Chambers, Area Manager of Delta Aggregate, says this year $36,000 was donated to KidSport.

"With $12,000 going to the Swift Current chapter, $12,000 to the Estevan chapter, and $12,000 to the North Battleford chapter. We have operating companies in those three cities in Saskatchewan, so because it was a Saskatchewan tournament, we wanted to give back to each community," he said. "We have a banquet on the Wednesday and the Thursday night. Thursday's kind of the fancier banquet where we'll have KidSport in and a speaker in town. We had Marty McSorley, former Edmonton Oiler, come in and speak this year. He was also there to give out the cup to the winning team on Friday."

The tournament has moved everywhere from Alaska to Fort McMurray, and next year's tournament will be held in Nelson, BC.

"We have western Canada and Alaska that participate in the tournament, and each year we pick a different location of one of our local companies. Last year we were in Banff and this year it was held for the first time ever in Saskatchewan by Delta-Westland," said Chambers. "We have twelve different companies involved, and ten competed this year."
