Come out this Saturday to the Cresent Point Wickenheiser Centre in Shaunavon for the first ever Tae Kwon Do Tournament .

Pete Allen is an International Referee and Tae Dwan Do Instructor in Shaunavon and said, “Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art, its an Olympic sport. What we'll be doing this weekend are sparing, poomsae patterns, and an extra we're going to be doing board breaking.”

Allen explained how the tournament is for some of the kids who haven't travelled, “This tournament is for the other kids that haven't travelled. I have about 20-25% of my kids who are doing very well at tournaments and we wanted to bring a tournament atmosphere back locally and show kids what happens there.”

Competitors will be coming from a variety of different areas, “We have some from Calgary, Medicine Hat, and Regina. So its a small tournament and we're hoping to build on our volunteer base and prepare for future bigger tournaments.” said Allen

Allen adds he would like to thank the local businesses for all their support.

Doors open Saturday morning at nine, Admission is three dollars for adults, students, two dollars, and ten and under free.
