Former Swift Current Bronco Brent Sopel has announced his retirement from pro hockey after 18 seasons in the NHL, AHL and KHL.

Sopel played three seasons with the Broncos from 1994 to 1997, scoring 32 goals and 140 points in 174 regular season games.

He was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks 144th overall in 1995, and played in 659 career NHL games with six different teams, scoring 44 goals and 174 assists, and won a Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010.
