A well-known face to Swift Current hockey fans is hoping to stay in the prairies for at least another year.

Glen Gawdin, who captained the 2018 Swift Current Broncos to the Ed Chynoweth Cup, has re-signed a one year, $700,000 contract with the Calgary Flames organization.

The 2018 WHL playoffs MVP was initially drafted by the St. Louis Blues in 2015 but never signed with them, returning instead to the Juniors for a number of years, including the 2018 cup run, before signing as a free agent with Calgary.

After a solid first pre-season with the big club, he was assigned to their AHL affiliate, the Stockton Heat.

With the Heat, Gawdin has racked up 85 points in 117 games.

With the new two-way contract in hand, Gawdin says that his focus this year is on earning a spot with the big club.
