Broncos of the recent and distant past gathered at Elmwood Golf and Country Club on Saturday for the MNP Bronco Alumni Golf Classic.

The event allowed for a group of over 20 former Broncos to connect, some for the first time, and share their experiences in the southwest.

"That's the best part, that's the reason you come. Just to hang out with all the old guys you missed, or haven't seen in forever," said former Broncos forward Coda Gordon, who made his first appearance at the alumni tournament.

"To meet new alumni especially, and make connections - yeah that's the main reason I wanted to come out here. Unfortunately some of my buddies couldn't make it, but of course there's a lot of people and everyone's kind of connected."

The Broncos' 2018 WHL Championship certainly was a common talking point at the alumni tournament, one Gordon wishes he could have shared first-hand experiences from.

"I was trying to come out to catch the playoffs, but just never had the time to drive up here," he said. "I was following pretty closely, especially once they made it past that first round I knew that they obviously had a shot."

Gordon played four seasons for the Broncos from 2011-15, wearing the 'A' as alternate captain in his fourth-and-final season. He tallied 244 points (98 G, 146 A) in 258 regular-season games as a Bronco, adding 12 points (3 G, 9 A) over 15 playoff contests.

The 6-foot-2 forward is now headed into his fourth year at the University of Calgary with the Dinos' men's hockey team.

Having arrived straight from the WHL, Gordon said the acclimation process to the university level was harder than anticipated.

"Most guys probably do it... you're coming in like 'it's the CIS, whatever', but it's a big wake-up call for most guys," he admitted. "It's definitely a great league - there's no bad players in it. You just continually see more and more guys have futures after the CIS."

A hockey future beyond the university level is one the Calgary product would love to pursue, sharing that he's far from picky regarding the prospects of playing overseas.

"Yeah I'd like to obviously finish my degree then I'd like to play overseas somewhere. I know there's lots of opportunities for guys from the CIS to go in certain leagues. I don't really care where I go, I just want to go for the experience and play a couple years over there."

Playoffs included, Gordon has 41 points (15 G, 26 A) in 95 games over three seasons with the University of Calgary.
