A former Swift Current Bronco has been hired as an associate coach with the New York Islanders.

In an announcement yesterday, Lane Lambert was named to the position.

Lambert played the 1980/81 season with the Broncos - back when Swift Current was in the SJHL - scoring 45 goals and adding 54 assists for 97 points over 55 games.

He most recently spent four years as an assistant coach with the Washington Capitals, winning the Stanley Cup this spring.

Lambert joins former Caps head coach Barry Trotz, who was hired as the Isles' bench boss after stepping down from his role in Washington.
