The 2021 IIHF World Junior Championships wrapped up late last night in Edmonton but not before a former Swift Current Bronco won a medal.

Finnish defenceman Kasper Puutio picked up a bronze medal as Team Finland was able to knock off Russia 4-1.

Puutio, a 5th round draft pick of the Florida Panthers in 2020, collected a pair of assists while appearing in all seven games Finland competed in during the two-week tournament.

He suited up 35 times and recorded 16 points for the Broncos during the 2019-20 WHL season before they dealt him to Everett at the deadline.

He'll be eligible to play for team Finland again next year when the tournament is back in Edmonton and Red Deer.
