Former Swift Current Broncos defenceman Jerrid Sauer has joined the coaching staff for the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Sauer was named the team's assistant coach today and will replace Darren Kruger, another former Bronco, who recently became Senior Director of Player Development for the Tigers.

Sauer played with the Broncos from 2002 to 2006 before going to Medicine Hat in a mid-season trade, and won a WHL championship in his first season with the Tigers. He continued in Medicine Hat until the end of his junior career, when he went on to the University of Calgary to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology.

“We are thrilled to have Jerrid join our coaching staff. As a former player and member of the 06-07 championship team, Jerrid understands what it means to be a Tiger and what it takes to be successful in our league,” Tigers Head Coach Sean Clouston said in a statement.

Sauer scored 38 goals and 80 points in 331 WHL regular season games, and added 13 more points in the playoffs.
