Swift Currents Brett Ward

Several former Broncos and Legionnaires will hit the ice today for the University of Saskatchewan at the CIS Men's Hockey Championship in New Brunswick. They got to the tournament with a triple overtime win over Calgary.

Swift Current's Brett Ward said their Canada West victory was quite special, “It was quite a storybook ending. You don't really see to many triple overtimes, I believe that was the longest one in Canada West Final history, to go out on top like that is really something else.”

Ward knows the road just gets tougher at the tournament in New Brunswick, “It's a different style of hockey out east. We have really speedy forwards to so hopefully our defensive game collectivly with our forwards and defense can shut down some of those teams and we can capatalize on our chances to give us a chance."

Ward was originally credited with the goal but since discovered that Andrew Bailey tipped it in.

The Huskies play Moncton at 11am this morning.
