Swift Current Broncos defenceman Griffin Foulk is getting used to his new surroundings after a deal brought him to the club from Lethbridge after the holiday break.

"I was really exctited to find out I was coming to Swift Current," Foulk said. "It's a great organization with a lot of winning tradition here and I'm excited to be part of it.

The Broncos added Foulk from Lethbridge for a conditional 2016 8th round bantam draft pick. He feels he brings a steady and reliable game to the table.

"I'm a two-way defenceman," Foulk said. "I like to get my feet moving. I feel I have pretty good skating, like to take care of my defensive some first and then get up the ice."

Foulk has played 155 games in the WHL and says that experience should help him fill the void left by Dillon Heatherington playing World Juniors and Jordan Harris being injured.

"We needed some experience to fill for those two guys who are going to be missing for a while," said Broncos Coach/GM Mark Lamb. "We did some information on him a few years back. He's been around for a while now, he's got some experience. He's a really good skater, he's a competitive kid. Not only do we need him but we think he could help us."

Lamb noted Harris could be done for the season and the injury comes at a very unfortunate time for the Prince Albert product with an opportunity for more minutes while Heatherington was away.

Foulk has played two games for the Broncos so far and hopes perhaps in his time with Swift Current he could add more of an offensive side to his game.

"Trying to get some more offence in my game would be a thing I'd like to improve in," he noted. "I'd like to take are of my own zone first and if they offence comes that would be great."

Foulk and the Broncos are in Red Deer on Tuesday night before trips to Edmonton on Wednesday and Medicine Hat on Saturday.
