A gold medal for Swift Current's Braedon Friesen at the Saskatchewan Summer Games in Estevan.

Friesen claimed the medal winning the Male High Jump event.

Maple Creek was also represented on the podium Monday, as Hayden Briggs scored a silver medal in the Male Pentathlon.

In team sports, the SouthWest Female soccer team defeated Team North 6-0.

In Female Basketball, Team SouthWest fell to Regina 64-19 but bounced back for a 54-18 win over Lakeland.

In Male Basketball, it was a similar result.

The SouthWest were defeated by Regina 68-37 but later got in the win column 56-39 over Prairie Central.

Finally in Baseball, Team SouthWest dropped both of their games, 11-2 to Prairie Central and 10-0 to Regina.

After day 1, Team SouthWest has 3 gold medals, 2 silvers and 1 bronze for a total of 6, which has them sitting 6th in the overall medal standings.

Saskatoon holds the lead heading into day 2 with 12 total medals.
