Starting the playoffs off on the right foot, the Full Line Ag Female Midget 'AA' Broncos picked up a game one victory Monday night.

Taking on the fourth seeded Parkland Lions, the fifth ranked Broncos travelled to Ochapowace and defeated the Lions 4-2 to start their best of three series.

Having gone 3-1 against Parkland in the regular season this year, Swift Current got on the board first in Monday's playoff game when Courtney Funk found the back of the net late in the opening frame, giving the Broncos a 1-0 lead after one.

The score remained in Swift Current's favour until the midway point of the second when Parkland's Janna Keisig beat Bronco's goalie Amaya Giraudier.

Tied 1-1 entering the third, the Broncos regained their lead.

Kamryn Johnson fired home her first goal of the playoffs for a 2-1 advantage, however the lead was very short-lived.

Just ten seconds after Johnson had put the Broncos ahead, Parkland came back to tie the game 2-2.

With the game deadlocked, that is when Sara Kendall stepped up for Swift Current.

The forward has been very hot of late, having scored in all four of the Broncos provincial games.

With 7:02 remaining in the final frame Kendall scored an unassisted marker to put Swift Current up 3-2, before putting the game away with her second goal of the night in the final minute.

With the win, the Broncos will come home with a 1-0 series lead and just one win away from advancing to the South Saskatchewan Female Midget 'AA' Hockey League semi-finals.

Game two of the series will be played Friday at 7:00pm from the Fairview Arenas.
