Swift Current Broncos forward Andrew Fyten will be stuck on the sideline for the first game of the WHL playoffs.

The league suspended Fyten for two games after a hit from behind on Regina Pats defenceman Libor Hayek last Friday in Regina.

Fyten had dumped the puck in on the Regina goal and it was cleared to the corner. He followed up with a hard check on Hayek who was had turned away from Fyten while attempting to play the puck.

Pats defenceman Cale Fleury then hit Fyten with a cross check from behind and received only a two minute penalty for the retaliation.

Fyten missed Saturday's home game under a "to be determined" suspension and will now have to sit out an extra game at the start of the post-season.

This is Fyten's third career suspension and second for a hit from behind this season. He received a one-game suspension in October while still a member of the Calgary Hitmen.

The Broncos hadn't had a player suspended all season until Tanner Nagel received a three-game ban for a hit on Dmitry Zaitsev of the Moose Jaw Warriors on March 10th. Nagel is slated to return to Swift Current's lineup in time for Friday's Game 1 against the Pats.

Both Friday and Saturday's playoff dates in Swift Current are sold out. They are selling tickets for a fan bus to Regina with the third and fourth games of the series slated for next Monday and Wednesday.
