The Swift Current Broncos were able to hold off the Kootenay Ice last night.

Tyler Steenbergen netted his league leading 20th goal of the season and the eventually game-winner 7:54 into the third period to give the Swift Current Broncos a 4-3 win over the Kootenay Ice.

The Broncos battled through a rough schedule to pickup a crucial two points on the road.

"We knew going in tonight four games in five nights, that we would be probably be running on fumes at the end of the game and we certainly were," said Broncos head coach Manny Viveiros. "We got off to an early lead and they pushed back, came hard at us in the first period. I thought we played better in the second and better in the third period also. We're very ecstatic about getting two points this evening."

Connor Chaulk, the Broncos third line centre left the game in the second period, and Kole Gable was able to slide into Chaulk's role scoring his first goal as a Broncos and also added an assist.

"He (Gable) brought some energy for us last night and also tonight too. I put him in the centre position in the third period and did a really good job," Viveiros said post-game. "(He did) exactly what we expect from him to come in and bring energy to our hockey team, and contributes also with some points, so that's a bonus for us."

The Ice were only able to manage 12 shots on Taz Burman in the second and third frame combine.

"We were able to keep them to the outside for the most part as far a scoring opportunities go," the Broncos first-year head coach said. "We played a pretty discipline game for the second and third period, which is very encouraging because we need to playing four games in five nights."

Lane Pederson scored 13th goal of the season, and added an assist while Kaden Elder had the other Broncos goal, his third in four games.

The Broncos end their busy week going 3-1 and picking up six of a possible eight points.

"Great week, really good week here. Some tough places to play, and quite a bit of travel also. We're very happy with the week here and can't' wait to get home and get some rest," Viveiros said.
