It's showtime for Swift Current Broncos forwards Jake DeBrusk and Glenn Gawdin.

Both men are scheduled to take part in the CHL Top Prospects game on Thursday night in St. Catherines, Ontario and on national television.

"It was exciting when Jake got named to it," said Broncos Coach and GM Mark Lamb. "(Glenn) didn't get named when they first named everybody... it's not the end of the world there's a lot of hockey players that don't end up going to it. If you play good then good things will happen. That's what he did. He played good, there were some injuries and he was invited."

The game is a collection of the top prospects in the Canadian Hockey League who are eligible for the 2015 NHL Draft. DeBrusk and Gawdin were both prominent in the recent NHL Central Scouting rankings. DeBrusk came in at 24th and Gawdin 37th among North American skaters. Those rankings come after the Broncos had three players selected in the top three rounds of the 2014 NHL Draft.

"I think it's excellent," Lamb said. "It means we are eyeing the right prospects and eyeing the right type of people. The nice thing about it is these players have improved from the original spots where they were rated. That's a nice sign that these players are developing."

Jake DeBrusk has been consistently mentioned as one of the fast risers in this draft. The Broncos are hearing from that from scouts while watching his development happen.

"I'm hearing that all the time," Lamb said. "The biggest thing for us is we're seeing it develop right in front of our eyes. Jake DeBrusk every night is doing something special. He's improving. He's playing left wing, right wing, he's killing penalties now and turning into an all-around player."

DeBrusk has made big strides with 46 points in 46 games so far this season. That compares to 39 points in 72 games as a rookie.

Gawdin had stepped up from a 22 point rookie season and has 36 points in 46 games as a sophomore.

You can watch them Thursday night on Sportsnet and the two players will be back in the lineup for Swift Current on Friday in Calgary.
