The Swift Current Broncos received good news for their 2017-18 on-ice product Tuesday.

Last season's captain, Glenn Gawdin, was returned to the Broncos from the Calgary Flames for his final season of junior eligibility.

The 6-foot-1, 191-pound centre from Richmound, B.C. had 26 goals and 59 points in 52 games in 2016-17. He then contributed six goals and 11 points in 14 playoff games as the Broncos went to Game 7 with the top-seeded Regina Pats in the second round.

Gawdin enters his fifth full WHL season with 70 goals and 188 points in 245 career games.

Gawdin was initially drafted by the St. Louis Blues, but wasn't signed. He was one of 10 players assigned to major junior Tuesday from Flames training camp.

From the Broncos' perspective, Gawdin's return should be a big boost for the team on and off the ice.

He joins forward Tyler Steenbergen (returning from Arizona Coyotes camp) and blueliners Artyom Minulin (back from Minnesota Wild camp) and Colby Sissons (back from New Jersey Devils camp) as recent re-additions that will play big roles with the Broncos.
