Swift Current Broncos captain Glenn Gawdin shone in the month of February on his way to the WHL Player of the Month, and there's no signs of slowing down for the 20-year-old forward.

Gawdin posted 27 points (15 G, 12 A) in 12 February contests en route to the personal accolade.

"I thought it was a good month - had some pretty good numbers, but we had some pretty good wins too," Gawdin explained. "Not sure what our record was, but we played pretty solid in February and we're going to need that for March and going into playoffs."

The Broncos went 9-2-1-0 in the month of February as the team keeps their sights set on catching the Moose Jaw Warriors for first place in both the Eastern Division and entire WHL.

Swift Current sits just one point back of the Warriors for top spot, although having played one more game.

The surging Broncos are using the hot-hand of their captain at the right time this season. Gawdin is riding a 25-game point streak, registering 49 points (23 G, 26 A), starting with a two-assist effort against the Red Deer Rebels on January 7.

Gawdin's WHL-leading campaign currently stands at 122 points (55 G, 67 A), eight-clear of a Moose Jaw combo of Brayden Burke and Jayden Halbgewachs (113).

In-house, Gawdin's stellar season helps his ascent up the Broncos' record books.

With six WHL regular season games left in his career, Gawdin currently sits:

7th games played - 310 (could climb as high as T-5th with Ben Ondrus - 316)
6th career points - 310 (Layne Ulmer and Andy Schneider are T-4th - 316)
8th highest single-season point total - 122 (7th: Peter Kasowski - 131, T-5th: Terry Ruskowski, Joe Sakic - 133)
T-9th in career goals with Rick Girard - 125 (8th: Josh St. Louis - 127)

The difference this year for the captain, who's averaging a lofty 1.88 points-per-game?

"I think just more consistent - I think that comes with age too, being more comfortable in the league," Gawdin said. "But the biggest thing for me I think is making the most of my chances. We've got such a good team that it doesn't really matter who you play with, you're going to get chances, so it's just a matter of making the most of them."

The Calgary Flames prospect and his Broncos squad next welcome the Calgary Hitmen to town.

Former Broncos Riley Stotts, Conner Chaulk, Dom Schmiemann, and the Hitmen are at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex for a 7 p.m. puck drop on Wednesday.
