Swift Current Broncos forward Glenn Gawdin and Team Canada held off Sweden 5-3 to take their quarter-final matchup at the World Under-18 hockey championship in Switzerland on Thursday.
Saginaw Spirit forward Mitchell Stephens had three points for the Canadians, who face the USA in the semi-finals on Saturday morning. Finland and the host Swiss will meet in the other semi-final on Saturday.
The gold medal game is on Sunday.
