It was a big weekend for southwest products in the NCAA.

Kyle's Baylee Gillanders and the University of Minnesota won their second consecutive NCAA women's hockey championship.

The former Swift Current Wildcat had an assist in a 6-3 win at home over Boston University.

The Golden Gophers went 41-0 on the season and have won 49 games in a row dating back to last season's championship.

This is the third year for Gillanders at the University of Minnesota.

Meanwhile, Swift Current's Joel Rumpel made 20 saves to lead the University of Wisconsin to a 3-2 win over Colorado College in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Final Five tournament final.

Rumpel was named Final Five MVP as he allowed only five goals in three games.

Wisconsin now moves on to the NCAA Division 1 hockey tournament.
