Reiley Grose win the award for Teammate of the Year at the Indians year-end Awards Banquet Sunday

The Swift Current Indians have gone their seperate ways after a whirlwind three-month season that brought them within two wins of the WMBL Championship.

It was also the end of college ball for a number of players, including local player Reiley Grose who is leaving the team after four years.

"As a career with the Indians, the league's changed a lot," he said. "I remember coming in last year playing with Conrad Funk and Joey Evans. We laughed back in the day, it was Conrad Funk teaching me kid's camps, just like we teach kid's camps now, and all of a sudden, I went from being that little kid shagging balls out there to playing with Conrad Funk and being on the same team with him, and to be there for his final season, that was special to see that.

Grose added it was also fun to play with some guys he played with growing up through his career, including Taylor MacDonnell, Brennan Peterson and Justin Lee, whom he had played with since Mosquito ball.

"Just guys that you grow up with watching and then you get to play with them," he added. "It's just an awesome setup to have that and to be able to play ball in your summers with your family and friends in the stands, too. That's always a ton of fun, and in four years, the people that I've met and the experiences I've had has just been amazing."

He also appreciates the support he got along the way from Joe Carnahan and the coaching staff.

"I got to thank Joe and the volunteers and the coaching staff over the years, they've just been unreal," Grose added. "Working at home, sometimes my dad needed me to work, so Joe made a flexible schedule. Sometimes I missed batting practice just to get eight hours of work in a day, and it was incredible, the setup and the organization here."

Grose added he also wants to thank the fans for the support, and his family and friends for being there for him in his career.

He says he plans to be involved in baseball in the future, adding he is completing his studies in Regina to become a registered massage therapist and sports therapist, and plans to return to Swift Current to practice.
