The Teejay Haichert rink from the Swift Current Curling Club is getting ready for the Viterra Scotties Provincial Women's Championships, after qualifying through southern playdowns this past weekend.

Haichert plays third for Kelly Wood during the season, but Wood's citizenship status kept her from taking part in playdowns this year.

"We all move up and usually find a spare, throughout the year we try and rummage up someone to play with us, and this year, we've got a great one," she said. "It's a girl that I used to curl with back in junior curling, Allie McMillan from Saskatoon. We know her well, Janelle Tyler on my team... we all played in juniors together, so it's a great fit for our team."

The Haichert rink qualified through the C-Event at southerns, winning their last two games after losing their first two to start the playdowns. She says the team will prepare as best as they can, and should be ready to compete against some tough teams in Tisdale.

"There's lot's of great teams you have to play against," she said. "We had a slow start, but we played strong at the end, and we were lucky enough to win, and get to have the chance to experience the playdowns."

The Provincial Women's Curling Championships start January 8th, and the winning team will represent Saskatchewan at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Montreal starting February 1st.
