Heward hired onto Giants' staff; third and final 2017/18 Broncos' coach to depart

Now-former Broncos assistant coach and director of player development Jamie Heward is westward bound for the 2018-19 WHL season.

The Vancouver Giants announced they signed Heward as an associate coach in a release on the team's website this morning. 

GM Barclay Parneta announced this morning that former NHL defenceman Jamie Heward (Regina, SK) has been named Associate Coach.

"His efforts were instrumental in helping the Swift Current Broncos win the 2018 Ed Chynoweth Cup."

Heward is the third and final Broncos coach from the past year to find employment elsewhere after their WHL Championship.

Head coach and director of player personnel Manny Viveiros was hired onto the Edmonton Oilers staff as an assistant coach, while associate coach Ryan Smith is now an assistant behind the bench with the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Heward was with the Broncos for six seasons serving as assistant coach and director of player development.
