It was a tough week for Chinook SD football teams. Our 3 remaining teams in the playoffs all lost. In 12 man action on Oct. 18, the Swift Current Colts travelled to Estevan where they were defeated by the Elecs 21-9 in league quarter finals.

In 6 man action on Oct. 22, the Gull Lake Lions (5-1) faced Loreburn-Kenaston Aztecs (5-1) in the league semi finals. The winner would advance to the SHSAA provincial semi final. Although winning at the end of the first half, the Lions couldn’t hang on. The Aztecs won 20-12. The Lions drove all the way to the 1 yard line in the dying seconds of the game but an unfortunate fumble ended their hopes. Congrats to the Lions and their coaching staff on a great season.

In 9 man action on Oct. 22, the Maple Creek Redmen (5-2) hosted Indian Head Broncs (4-3). It was a see-saw battle with Maple Creek ahead 28-25 with less than a minute left. The Broncs drove down the field and scored a TD with no time on the clock to win 31-28. Congrats to the Redmen and their coaching staff on a great season.

The Swift Current Colts and Ardens soccer teams travelled to Weyburn on Oct. 22 to start on the provincial soccer trail. Both the Colts and Ardens were victorious capturing the Regional title. The Colts took on Weyburn beating them 4-3 while the Ardens dominated in a 4-0 win over Weyburn. Both teams will now advance to provincials on Oct. 28/29. The Ardens will travel to PA while the Colts will go to Saskatoon. Best wishes to both teams!

Earlier in the week, the Ardens captured their 3
