Swift Current's High School Soccer teams start their quests for provincial titles this morning.

The Comp High School Ardens are in Regina for 3A Girls Provincials after winning the regional tournament last weekend, and going unbeaten in league play.

"We have some veteran players that have experienced that, and they know what we're going up against," said Ardens coach Steve Mah. "I think this year is as probably as wide open as it's ever been. I think there's probably six or eight teams that could legitimately win the tournament."

The Ardens had a younger team this season, but their mix of youth and experience have been a major benefit this year.

"Our younger players bring some skill in passing, and that's up," he added. "A lot of our older players play on the back end. They are heart and soul players that have experience and play hard."

The Ardens won silver at provincials last season, and Mah says their goal is to come home with another medal.

Their opening match is against Saskatoon Centennial at 11:00am.

Meanwhile, the Colts are in Saskatoon for 3A Boys Provincials and play Holy Cross in their first match at 9:00am. The Colts earned a spot in provincials after finishing second in the regionals last weekend in Swift Current.
