The Calgary Hitmen have advanced to the WHL Championship series by sweeping the Brandon Wheat Kings in the Eastern Conference final.
The Hitmen beat Brandon 6-4 last night to sweep the series and run their playoff record to 12-0. That mark ties the record for consecutive playoff wins that is held by the Swift Current Broncos.
In the 1989 championship season, the Broncos went 12-0 to win the WHL Championship and advance to the Memorial Cup.
The Hitmen will now await the winner of the Kelowna/Vancouver Western Conference final. Vancouver leads the series 2-1 with Game 4 tonight in Kelowna.
