Glenn Howard and Team Ontario captured the Tim Hortons Brier in Saskatoon with an 7-6 victory over Alberta's Kevin Koe in the final Sunday night.

It was Howard's sixth final as a skip in the last seven years, but only his first victory since 2007.

Team Howard will represent Canada at the World Men's Curling Championships in Basel, Switzerland at the end of the month.

In other curling news, Canada's Brendan Bottcher is the world junior curling champion, as the Edmonton skip needed only eight ends to beat Sweden 10-4. The victory is Canada's first junior men's title since 2003.

And next week's Ford World Women's Curling Championships in Lethbridge lost some star power this weekend, as Andrea Schoepp, the German skip who won the World Championship in Swift Current two years ago, pulled out of the competition on Saturday after suffering a broken leg.

This year's worlds begins on Saturday with Heather Nedohin representing Canada.
