Sophomore Bronco Shea Howorko has started to realize he doesn't always need to produce points to help his team.

Howorko was a 2nd round WHL Bantam Draft pick and a point per game scorer in midget. He only put up 3 points as a WHL rookie.

"He felt that he wasn't doing the job if he wasn't scoring goals and that's not the case," said Broncos Coach and GM Mark Lamb. "You have to do the other little things and he's starting to do that."

"The last five or six games Shea has really played well. He's big strong and can skate... if he keeps playing like that he's going to score his fair share of goals."

Howorko realizes he is able to make a difference in other ways as well.

"It's always nice to score goals... but there's a lot more than just points," Howorko said. "There's hitting, forechecking, being aggressive, getting the bench going... it's those little things."

The Swift Current minor hockey product has been playing on a gritty line with Andy Blanke and Christian Magnus.

"I think this is a great line right now," Howorko said. "(Blanke) is a grinder, Magnus is great in the corners."

"We make physical plays to get shots on not and hopefully to bury a few."

The Broncos host Prince Albet on Saturday. You can hear the game on The Eagle 94.1 FM starting with our pre-game show at 6:30pm.
