Action between the K-Motel Hurricanes and Weyburn at the Fairview Arenas Monday night

The K-Motel Midget Hurricanes are off to the third round of provincials.

George Hudec had a three-point night with two goals and an assist as the Hurricanes beat the Weyburn Petro Bakken 4-2 at home Monday night to sweep both games of the series and win with a total score of 11-8.

Post-game interview with Hurricanes Head Coach Greg Hurrell

"We battled hard, we did the things that we needed to do to win the game. There were a few issues with the breakdown in our own end, but for the most part, they played like they need to play every game," Head Coach Greg Hurrell said after the game. "We matched lines tonight, the goaltending was phenomenal tonight, Logan (Tisdale) was just incredible. We told them that we have to play like this every game, and that's why we won. They worked their butts off."

Darby Crozier and Kyler Sachkowski also scored for the Hurricanes, who will take on either the Notre Dame Hounds or Prairie Storm in the next round. The Hounds won the first game 6-4 with game two to be played in Wilcox. The winner of the third round series will face the winner of the provincial playoffs in the Saskatoon league, with that winner taking the Center Four league qualifier for the SHA Midget AA Championship.

The Hurricanes visit Moose Jaw on Thursday and then host the Notre Dame Argos on Saturday in league play.
