Swift Current against Lumsden Bethune earlier this season

The second round of the playoffs starts tonight at home for the Swift Current Midget AA K-Motel Hurricanes.

They're taking on the Lumsden Bethune Lions.

The Hurricanes advanced to the second round with a dramatic game 3 victory over the Notre Dame Argos. They scored twice in the final minutes to steal victory from the jaws of defeat.

"They're excited." said Hurricanes Coach Tim Tisdale. "To win that way that just carries over. I would have liked to play the next day just to keep the momentum going. I think our guys are focused now. We had a little bit of a scare, but I think they're ready to go and excited to play."

The Hurricanes went 3-1 against the Lions this season and outscored Lumsden Bethune 23-9. Their only loss came back in November.

"We've had some good success against them this year," said Tisdale. "Over the last three games that we've played we've I believe held them to only two goals. That's going to be the key. They have an explosive offence with the leading scoring in the league (Tyson Scott). We have to focus on him and shut him down."

Scott has 86 points in 39 regular season, provincial and playoff games. The Hurricanes are led by Hayden Johnston who has 72 points in 41 games.

Game time is 7:15pm at the Fairview West Arena. Game 2 goes Sunday in Lumsden and game 3 if necessary would be next Wednesday in Swift Current.
