The K-Motel Midget Hurricanes are one win away from the league championship... they took game one of their best-of-three final with a 3-2 win over Weyburn last night at home.

Hayden Johnston got the game-winner late in the second period and added two assists, while Dalton Menke and Keegan Braaten both had two-point nights.

Coach Tim Tisdale says that line has been big for them through the post-season, “That line we count on all year and really we were playing some match ups we had some others guys in some defensive roles tonight that put their own numbers apart and did it for the win.”

Tisdale added they knew the game would be a defensive battle and goaltending would be crucial,“They have a very good goaltender. Big body that takes up a lot of the net and I thought Garland played well here tonight when tested. Got a pretty easy first but after that I thought he had to make some saves in the third and battle and find things.”

The Hurricanes can wrap up the title Wednesday night in Weyburn, and game three, if needed, will be back in Swift Current on April 4th.
