The Hurricanes against the Hounds

It was with a heavy heart that the Swift Current K-Motel Midget AA Hurricanes beat the Notre Dame Hounds 8-1 Sunday

Coach Greg Hurrell noted the game was dedicated to the memory of former Hurricane Brandon Gauthier who died this summer.

"It was our memorial game for Brandon," Hurrell said. "I know he's looking down on us and he helped us with the win."

Darby Crozier had a hat trick and Thomas Hammerton had two goals.

"We were just going tic-tac-toe on them the whole game," Hurrell said. "They couldn't get it out of their own end... they just couldn't play against us."

The Hurricanes beat the Hounds 5-4 in Notre Dame on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires opened the Midget AAA season with 5-1 and 4-3 losses in Yorkton. They had four different goal scorers over the weekend.

Their home opener is Saturday against Beardy's.

In Bantam AA action, the Swift Current Kabos Raiders lost 2-0 to Estevan on Saturday.

The female Midget AAA Diamond Energy Wildcats went 1-2-1 at an exhibition tournament in Manitoba.
