The Swift Current IceBreakers sledge hockey team was on the road this Sunday, falling 3-2 in a close contest with the Regina Avengers.

"We've matched up pretty good against these guys this season," said IceBreakers assistant coach Darwin Gooding. "We were down 2-0 heading into the third period and Hunter Berg scored two goals in about a minute to tie it back up."

An Avengers goal with three minutes remaining sealed the fate for the short-staffed IceBreakers, who had just one substitute player on the bench.

In their inaugural season, the ability to go toe to toe with teams like this has been really beneficial for the IceBreakers.

"It's been awesome - Regina is a team that we've played three times now. We've beat them once, and I think we lost 1-0 to them, and now this. We've definitely had a good matchup against them, and we've had a lot of fun. It's been really good for the kids."

The IceBreakers are in Kindersley this next Saturday for the final game of their season.
