Indians Lethbridge

The Swift Current Indians beat the gusty winds and the Lethbridge Bulls 5-2 in front of 202 fans at Mitchell Field last night.

Coach Joe Carnahan said they worked around the wind with effective contact hitting, and a key two-run homer from Matt Henriksen.

"He pulled it just enough to kind of not get into the wind, he kind of used the wind a bit," Carnahan said. "He stayed through enough to keep it fair too."

Michael Noteware struck out two over five scoreless innings for the win on the mound, and said the winds didn't have much affect on him.

"I don't think it affected my control at all, I think it affected some balls in play, I mean hard to read balls towards the end of the game especially."

Jake Gonzalez earned the save with two scoreless innings in relief.

Meanwhile Coach Joe Carnahan hopes things work out a little more in favor of his team tonight.

The Indians lost 4-3 to the Okotoks Dawgs in a hard fought battle the last game they met up.

"Hopefully we can play a cleaner game, I mean neither team played a very clean game, and we ended up on the short end of that one, I'm anticipated a cleaner game from both sides, and it should be a good game."

The Dawgs are 10-3 on the season coming off a home and home sweep of the Edmonton Prospects, while the Indians are 11-4 on the season.

Game time is 7:05pm at Mitchell Field.
