The pieces of the puzzle are coming together nicely for the upcoming Swift Current Indians baseball season.

The team will have a great mix of returning veterans and some top flight newcomers, according to Head Coach Joe Carnahan.  "We have a couple of real talented pitchers coming in with Joe Holtmeyer and J.F. Ricard," commented Carnahan.

"Holtmeyer is a big, left-handed pitcher from the University of Nebraska-Omaha who is breaking all sorts of school records for strike-outs and ERA.  He's been clocked in the low 90s, and has a couple of other good pitches to go along with it.  He comes highly recommended.

"Ricard is a left-handed pitcher out of Quebec, previously drafted in 2008.  We've heard a lot of good things about him.  He just threw a no-hitter in his college league on Sunday."

Carnahan says to expect a lot of familiar names, including long-time player Conrad Funk.  "He's been a mainstay for a long time.  He's always an impact player.  You always know he's going to have a good year.  Other players include Brennan Peterson and Taylor Macdonnell.  It's good to have those two local guys back.  Shaun Lee, Brian Strawn, Joey Evans, and Kyle Albright will also be back."

The Indians open up the season May 31st at home against Edmonton.
