Tribe vs Beavers

One rough inning was all it took to extend the Swift Current Indians losing streak to 8 straight games.

Playing host to the Weyburn Beavers last night, the Tribe surrendered 5 runs in the top of the 3rd inning, en route to a 6-2 loss.

Swift Current starting pitcher Colby DeVries began the game strong, retiring 6 of the first 7 batters he faced, before taking the mound for the 3rd inning.

A pair of walks, an error, 2 singles, a hit by pitch and a sacrifice fly led to 5 Weyburn runs off of DeVries in the inning, 3 of them earned.

The Tribe tried to get back into the game in the 5th inning. Tyler Enns cashed in Chad Schultz with an RBI single, before Darren Kolk scored Enns with an RBI single of his own, trimming the Beavers lead to 5-2.

Weyburn rounded out the scoring in the 7th inning, as a pair of hits lead to the 6th run of the game for the Beavers.

Throughout the night, the Tribe struggled to hit with men on base. Swift Current stranded 7 runners, and despite having a runner reach safely in every inning except for one, they were only able to score in the 5th.

Looking forward to tonight, the Indians will have another opportunity to snap their losing skid.

Swift Current will host the Moose Jaw Miller Express.

The two teams met twice to open the 2015 season, splitting their home and home series. The Tribe won in Swift Current 12-3, while Moose Jaw won their home game 5-2.

First pitch between the Tribe and Miller Express is scheduled for 7:05pm from Mitchell Field.
