Mitchell Field will soon be buzzing with activity

The Swift Current Indians are poised to open the season in just 10 days as they host Edmonton to get the new WMBL season underway.

Players have begun filtering in from all over Canada and the US for the start of the season.

Indians Coach Joe Carnahan is confident they have the key ingredients to win some games this summer.  "We got a bunch of guys who like to compete, and come from winning programs; that's all you can ask for," commented Carnahan.  "It will be a matter to see if we can gel and string some wins together."

Carnahan, a former WMBL MVP is expecting a really competitive season within the league.  "It's gonna be tough from May 31st to the end of June, fighting for a playoff spot.  We just have to stay healthy and play some team baseball, and hopefully we are in the thick of things."
