IndiansBattingPractice2012

Players take batting practice last night.

The boys of summer are back.

The Swift Current Indians take the field to open the WMBL season in Weyburn tonight.

"So far so good." said six year veteran outfielder Brennan Peterson when asked how this year has gone so far. "We've got a lot of young talent it looks like. We can swing the bat decent from the first few days of batting practice so I'm excited to get going. (We've got) A lot of speed it looks like. A lot of speed in the outfield. We'll be slapping the ball around, running bases, stealing bases and playing the game hard by the looks of things."

The product of Central Butte knows he has to be a leader.

"There are some things that maybe some of these young faces aren't too familiar with, that I've seen, so I'll definitely try and help them out as much as I can."

As for tonight's game:

"A few guys have been off for a few weeks so I think it's just, as a hitter, try and see a few pitches, get comfortable in the batter's box again and take the pitcher into some deep counts."

After tonight's season opener in Weyburn the Tribe heads to Saskatoon tomorrow.

They host Okotoks for their home opener on Sunday night live on The Eagle 94.1
