Swift Current Indians Head Coach Joe Carnahan.

The perennial powerhouse Swift Current Indians start their climb back to the top fo the WMBL on Thursday night.

After winning the championship in 2010, they were knocked out in the first round of the playoffs last summer.

"It's going to be a tough fight." said Carnahan "From May 31st until the end of July to win a division title and then also get in the playoffs, it's going to be tight all the way through and we're going to have to come to the park every day and come with our A-game. We should have pretty good balance. We should have a little bit more team speed than normal. A little more left handed hitting than typically we do so hopefully we'll be able to hit the ball a little bit better than we did last year. On paper anyways, we should have a little better line-up. Once the games start we'll see how everybody gels together and how things go."

The Indians start the season in Weyburn on Thursday and host Okotoks for their home opener on Sunday night.
