When the WMBL season starts Friday for the Swift Current Indians, it starts with a flurry.

The Tribe play games on five straight days and six games in seven days.

They're still missing some of their key pitchers for the start of the season as those guys are still in college playoffs, but Indians Coach Joe Carnahan isn't too worried.

"We have enough pitchers to get through that," Carnahan said. "It's going to just mean we're going to have to throw quality pitches. We're going to have to keep our pitch counts down so we can bounce back and just go out there and compete."

"That's what they've been doing all year at school and we expect them to go out and do the same thing."

Cody Chartrand gets the start Friday as the Indians start their season in Saskatoon.

Despite not having everyone in town yet, Carnahan has liked what he has seen from practice.

Interview with Joe Carnahan"We've got a lot of energy out there," he said. "Guys are out there swinging the bats well. Guys are taking some good reps with ground balls and stuff. We've got a bunch of guys chomping at the bit to get after it."

We'll have the game from Saskatoon for you on The Eagle 94.1 FM starting at 6:50pm.

The Indians are in Moose Jaw on Saturday and host Edmonton for their home opener on Sunday. You can get season tickets at Pharmasave in Swift Current.
