indians tufts

Indians Pitcher Alex Tufts

It was a tale of two games last night as the Swift Current Indians split their double header with Weyburn. Game one seen the bats come alive and and the Indians hammer on Weyburn 11-3 with much of the team having multiple hit games and Aaron Dunsmore going deep for his team leading fourth home run. Game two however was a different story as Weyburn clamped down and held the Idians to just four hits total and winning the game three to two.

"Ya first game came out right away ready to play, got pitches to drive and drove them, second game absolute lack of focus and selfish approach at the plate and you know we were up there and anything we thought we could hit we just swung at instead of letting the game to develop. Work counts and when we are in hitters count wait for a pitch to hit and we didn't do that." said Coach Joe Carnahan.

Game two however did produce a spectacular catch by the Tribe's centre fielder Cam Newell as he went crashing into the outfield wall head first.

"Just kinda got a little whiplash went face first into it, was kinda seeing stars for a second, head was pounding for a little bit but it got better when the game went on so hopefully feel alright in the morning." recalls Newell.

The Indians next game is tonight in Moose Jaw at seven. Next home game is tuesday night against Medicine Hat at Mitchell Field.
